The Dance Of Nature ~ Series ~ by Patty Ann Smith

from Patty

I am a singer and a songwriter, and I take my role as a planetary citizen very seriously. I am passionate about the breathtaking beauty of our earth and it's inhabitants. From the time I was a child, I've always been aware of the interconnectedness of all things. I have studied Native American Medicine and other indigenous peoples methods of healing, both inside and outside university classrooms. I am, also, a student of life. And, through the many experiences I've had, several have taught me very valuable lessons . On several occasions, I've had the unique opportunity to become a guide and teacher to others because of what I've learned. In 1990, I facilitated Earth Day Activities at a State University Of New York Campus.

Even though I've performed music for both small and large audiences... many of my inspirations, ideas, and energy have come from Nature and my concerns for the Earth.

Be Strong... Be Well ~ Patty

from Patty

Music and rhythms of life are all about the dance.
People who live in harmony with each other and nature, are the truly free people on this earth.
Their inner and outer music is their life’s dance.

There’s a strange sort of comfort in knowing some of the natural mysteries of life, and it saddens me that so many people have been taught and programmed to be afraid of these things. It’s not healthy to separate ourselves from what is a natural part of us, because it stands in the way of our own species survival.
For too long, we have been continually separating ourselves from nature and natural ways. Now, it’s clear that many people are suffering because in their lives they lack the movements, sights, and sounds in the natural world. I see and hear the music in nature, and it may, still not be too late for us, if we learn the dances of the animals and trees.

One of the first things each of us has to do in order to improve the health of our planet is to open our hearts up with love for it, and all that inhabits it. Environmentally sound living comes from the heart. Us in balance means recognizing the healing power of Nature and experiencing everything as part of the web of life.

Patty Ann Smith

It is a Dance that ties All Living Things to the Infinite Web Of Life

The laws of physics describe the way nature controls balance, leaps, lifts, turns, and the effect of body size. These principles apply to the movements and dances of all animals, including humans. There is an individual inherent balance in every living organism. And, by watching an animal in the wild swinging from tree to tree, is one of many examples where you can see how animals, trees, and everything else is balancing with nature. The need for man to do this is just as important. Our existence on this earth is totally dependent on our thoroughly understanding nature and having an intrinsic respect and value for all other species.

Animal behavior and gymnastics in the wild are perfect examples of why when the right music is set to documentary films on animal behavior, it becomes an exquisite audio-visual experience of harmony and balance. All animals and trees, and all living things, are here to help bring us back to a natural balance of life. It is really crucial for mankind to recognize that our existence is totally dependent on the existence of all other species.

In hunter-gatherer cultures, the human being is regarded as on an equal footing with other animals, plants, and natural forces. It is, to them, morally imperative to treat these agents with respect. In this world view, humans are considered a part of nature, rather than superior to, or separate from it.

Patty Ann Smith

Watching other inhabitants on this planet, such as the animals and plants, I discovered that they had their own dances, too, and they, also, had their own music. I saw the intricate connection between humans and all other living things and realized that every thing that lives on this Earth is part of this Planet. We humans are just a small part of the story of life on Earth. So many other creatures have been on this planet much longer than us. And, If we want to survive, as a species, we need to understand and respect the entire living world's of all creatures.

We need to learn about
the sacredness of the animals
and their gifts to us.
We need to learn about
the seasons, elements,
and the cycles of life.

Our lives improve, when we raise our consciousness. Every cell of every leaf is breathing. In my own backyard, butterflies, birds, squirrels, cats, possums, plants, trees, insects, and... millions of microscopic organisms.... all these living things, depend upon each other to thrive and be healthy.

If the whales aren't well
we aren't well.
If the wolves aren't well
we aren't well.
If the birds aren't well
we aren't well.
If the trees aren't well
we aren't well.
If the crickets aren't well
we aren't well.
If Africa isn't well
then we're not well.
If South America isn't well
then we're not well.
If North America isn't well
then we're not well.
If the British Isles aren't well
then we're not well.
If Europe isn't well
then we're not well.
If Asia isn't well
then we're not well.
If the Middle East isn't well
then we're not well.
If the EARTH is not well
......then we are not well.
